Overview
The filtering experience in White Cup BI reports has been updated to provide greater flexibility and make filtering more intuitive.
With the filtering tools, you can:
- Filter reports using one or multiple columns
- Apply multiple values to a filter
- Combine filters using AND or OR logic
- Create filter groups for more advanced filtering scenarios
Filters allow you to narrow down report results so you can focus on the most relevant data.
How to Add Filters to a Report
- Open a White Cup BI report.
Click the Filter icon (the funnel icon) in the top-left corner of the report.
Click Add New Group to begin adding filters.
Select the column you want to filter from the dropdown list.
Note: The dropdown only displays columns that are currently included in the report. A column must exist in the report in order to filter on it.
Choose a comparison operator and enter the value you want to filter by.
Example:
- Column: Revenue
- Condition: Is Greater Than
- Value: 100000
Click Apply to apply the filter to the report.
Identifying When a Report Is Filtered
When a report has active filters, the word Filtered will appear at the end of the report breadcrumbs.
You can click Filtered to quickly remove the active filters.
Undoing Filter Changes
If you remove filters and want to restore them, you can click the Undo button to revert the change.
Adding Multiple Filters
You can apply more than one filter to a report.
- Add your first filter.
- Click the Add button to create another filter.
- Select the column and filtering condition.
This allows you to narrow your report results using multiple conditions.
Filtering on Multiple Values
Some comparison operators allow you to filter by multiple values.
For example, if you choose the operator Is Equal To, you can add several values to include in the filter.
- Enter a value.
- Click the "+" button to add it to the list.
- Repeat for additional values.
Using AND / OR Logic
Filters can be combined using AND or OR logic.
To change the logic between filters:
- Click the AND / OR toggle
- Or click the gray bar between filters
Example
AND Logic
- Revenue > 100000
- AND
- Region = Midwest
Both conditions must be true for a record to show up in the report.
OR Logic
- Revenue > 100000
- OR
- Region = Midwest
Either condition must be true for a record to show up in the report.
Note: All filters within the same group must use the same AND or OR logic.
Using Filter Groups
If you want to combine both AND and OR logic, you can create multiple filter groups.
- Click Add New Group.
- Add filters inside the new group.
- Toggle the AND / OR logic between groups.
Filter groups allow you to create more advanced filtering logic for your reports.
