Purpose
The purpose of this technical bulletin is to explain delegate rights and why setting up Delegate Rights in Microsoft Outlook is necessary for the Mobile Sync and Exchange Sync services.
The Mobile Sync service is used to sync Appointments and Tasks created in Tour de Force Mobile to Microsoft Outlook. The Exchange Sync service allows users to sync Contacts, Tasks, and Appointments between Outlook and Tour de Force.
This technical bulletin contains the following sections:
- Purpose of Delegate Rights
- Setting up Delegate Access and Granting Editor Rights
Note: Read the documentation completely before setting up Delegate Access.
- Purpose of Delegate Rights
With the Exchange Sync and Mobile Sync services users are able to create Appointments and Tasks and use those services to sync those items to Microsoft Outlook. For example, an Appointment created from Tour de Force Mobile can be synced back to users Outlook Calendar using the Mobile Sync service.
However, before the Exchange Sync and Mobile Sync can sync these items to a user’s Outlook profile the tdfadmin account needs to be given delegate access to each users Outlook profile. The tdfadmin account is the account that has been set up to run the Exchange Sync and Mobile Sync services. Because both services need to look at a user’s Outlook profile, Editor Rights need to be granted to the tdfadmin account for Appointments, Contacts, and Tasks.
Setting up delegate access for the tdfadmin account needs to be performed on each user’s computer using the steps outlined in Section B of this technical bulletin.
