Purpose
The purpose of this technical bulletin is to provide a brief overview of the Service Administration utility. The Service Administration utility is a new feature for version 6.0 of Tour de Force and contains the three main services that are related to Tour de Force: the Mobile Sync service, the Exchange Sync service, and the Email Logging service.
Each of these services available in the Service Administration utility already have separate technical bulletins created. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide instructions for accessing the Service Administration utility, as well as provide a brief overview of the utility.
This technical bulletin contains the following sections:
- Overview of the Service Administration Utility
- Accessing the Service Administration Utility
Note: Read the documentation completely before using the Service Administration utility.
- Overview of the Service Administration Utility
A new Administration utility has been added called the Service Administration utility in the Tour de Force Administration Console. The Service Administration utility now contains the Database Settings, the Email Logging settings, the Exchange Sync Settings, as well as the Tour de Force Mobile Sync Settings.
The first section in the Service Administration utility is the Database Settings. These are the settings that are set up on the initial implementation of Tour de Force and are generally not changed. These are the database settings that users enter to connect to the Tour de Force database, and should only be changed if the server that contains the Tour de Force database is changed.
The second section of the Service Administration is the Email Logging service settings. These settings were previously only available in a separate .exe file that was accessed from the Tour de Force or MRH Tech folder. The Service Administration now contains all of the Email Logging settings that are available to users.
For more information regarding the Email Logging settings please refer to Technical Bulletin 6309 – Setting Up the Email Logging Service.
The third section of the Service Administration utility is the Echange Sync service settings. These are the same settings that were located in the Manage Exchange Sync Settings utility and have not changed in version 6.0.
For more information regarding the Exchange Sync Settings please refer to Technical Bulletin 6522 – The Exchange Sync Settings.
The biggest change located in the Service Administration utility is the Mobile Sync Settings. The Mobile Sync Settings allow administrators to choose whether users sync Appointments, Contacts, or Tasks when the Mobile Sync process runs, and grants admins to the ability to perform a few troubleshooting steps if it appears that the Mobile Sync has failed to process for a certain user.
For more information regarding the Mobile Sync Settings please refer to Technical Bulletin 6521 – The Mobile Sync Utility.
- Accessing the Service Administration Utility
