Deleting Accounts
Deleting Accounts Overview: Because only Administrators can delete accounts, users must request that accounts be deleted by using the Delete Account check box in the Account Classification area in the Accounts tab. To get a list of accounts that have been requested to be deleted, the Administrator can get a list 2 different ways; by running a Company Report to get a list of everything that has been checked as delete, or to run a Filter for those accounts.
Running the Delete Company Report:
Go to the Reports menu on the main Compass screen and choose Company Reports. Choose Account Classification in the Search By area and highlight the Delete Company option. Click on the Search button and you will get a list of companies that have been checked as deleted in the Account Classification area of the Accounts tab. You can now go into each account and delete them using the Delete (X) button in the Accounts tab.
Running the Delete Company Filter:
Running a filter and deleting the companies is the most efficient way to
delete company records that have been requested to be deleted. First
you will go into the Filter option in the Accounts tab, and choose "Create
a New Filter".
Click on the selection box next to Delete Account in the Account Classification section, and click on the Filter Button on the bottom right of the screen. You can also save the filer selection by putting a name in the Filter Name field and clicking the Save Filter button. Then, when you run a filter in the future, you can choose "Use a Saved Filter" and it will automatically choose the Delete Company check box for you.
Once you run the filter you will be brought to the Search area, where you will see a list of accounts that have been marked to delete. If you double click on the first account in the list you will be brought to the main Accounts page, viewing the account you chose.
Use the Delete button to delete the account and also make sure to look at the Notes section for the reason why the user asked for the account to be deleted. You can also use the arrow buttons next to the Account Name to go to the next account after the previous account has been deleted, to delete the next.
